I finally got around to reading A Game of Thrones and I absolutely loved it. George R. R. Martin is a master story teller and even though I finished this one days ago I still find myself thinking about so many of the different characters in the book. So many people have done reviews of the book already that I thought that instead of a review I would post some of my favorite quotes from the book.
“When you play a game of thrones you win or you die.”
“A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge.”
“Most men would rather deny a hard truth than face it.”
“Never forget who you are, for surely the world won’t. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.”

I will definitely be reading the next book in the series, but I think I want to take a break from it for now. It was such a long and intense read that I think I need something light and fun now. If anyone has read the second book I would love to hear if you thought it was as good as the first.

ReplyDeleteGreat set of quotes, Anne. I remember each and every one of them from the novel. I've read the series a couple of times (so far) and just love it! I can't wait to see how it will all end.

ReplyDeleteI live in Colorado and all of our highway signs say "Winter is coming. Do you have chains?". I never get to the last part, I just see Winter is coming and think of ASoIaF.
