I do not usually do movie reviews but I just watched this movie recently and enjoyed it so much that I had to do a post about it. The movie is about group of British retirees who travel to India to live at the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. The hotel is not what they expected but most of them come to love the hotel in their own different ways.
The movie has a great cast including Judi Dench, Tom Wilkinson, Bill Nighy, and Maggie Smith. The movie is humorous, heartwarming, and the ensemble of these great actors made it a must see for me. I don't think this movie got a lot of attention when it came out and it is a shame because I thought it was great. If you enjoy British films I think you will really enjoy this one.

I watched this movie last weekend and loved it! It does have such a fabulous cast. I agree that this movie doesn't seem to be getting as much attention as if deserves.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the rare cases when I thought the movie was much better than the book. The book wasn't especially well written and veered too dangerously into the racism camp--I don't mean the racist character played by Dame Maggie Smith. I mean the entire novel setting up India and Indians as the Exotic Other with the British characters being the new generation of imperialism.
